Drawing and Composition Course This course invites you to explore the principles of composition through drawing in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Throughout the sessions, we’ll focus on how images are built—how elements are placed on the page, how space, balance, rhythm, contrast, and emphasis work together, and how these choices shape the overall feel of a drawing. Rather than learning how to draw a specific subject, the course focuses on the fundamental laws of composition that apply to all kinds of drawing. We’ll explore ideas such as framing and format, visual hierarchy, figure and ground, movement, depth, and the relationship between filled and empty space, always through hands-on practice that encourages experimentation and confidence. The course is open to a wide range of drawing approaches and genres, including portrait, still life, animals, plants, landscape, perspective, and narrative drawing. You’re welcome to work from observation or imagination, and to explore both figurative and abstract imagery. We’ll use a variety of drawing materials—pencils, charcoal, Chinese ink, pastels, and more—as flexible tools for exploration. All materials are provided, and you’re welcome to bring your own reference images or use books and visual resources from the studio. The course is designed as a comfortable, friendly, and warm space for focused practice and shared exploration, where skills grow gradually, and creative motivation is encouraged. Tea and snacks will be shared during the sessions. * Different prices: According to the new VAT regulation in Denmark, from 2026, VAT applies to all students from 30 and over attending to music, arts, dance, and other private clases and courses.
